Easiest DIY Hanging Planter Ever

Happy weekend, friends :)

I've been plant-sitting for my friend this summer and started to notice her succulent starting to stretch. I wanted to find a place where it could get plenty of sun and I could keep a watch over it, so I looked into a hanging planter for my window.

I tried out a few of the tutorials hanging plant holders, but they were more complicated than what I needed - I wanted a simple, minimalistic holder for a tiny plant. As necessity is the mother of invention, I gathered my favorite parts of each tutorial and made my own! Here's the method to my madness.

WHAT YOU NEED

- 4 pieces of of string/rope, each 1 meter long (I tried rope the first time, but found string easier to work with)
- a plant pot
- a sunny place + a hook/curtain rod

THE PROCESS

1. Start with your 4 pieces of string or rope bundled together. At the center of the bundle, tie a knot.

2. Separate the bundle into four sections with two strings per section. Make knots in each section about an inch from the center knot. Adjust to what works best for your plant pot - you want it to be towards the bottom lip of the pot.

3. Take the outer strings from each section and measure an inch again, then knot. You want the lengths between the knots to be the same, as it makes for a more symmetrical hanger. I like to flatten the strings and knot the ones closest to each other.

4. Repeat this knotting process until you reach the top of your plant pot.

5. Test the strings to make sure they'll hold the plant.

6. Knot the top of your strings together and tie them onto your hook/location of choice.

For succulents, you want a sunny location where they can soak up the rays all day. For ferns and plants that grow in cooler settings, they will need some indirect as well as some direct sun.

There you have it! A simple, minimalistic hanging planter that is wonderful for your plants :) I'm definitely hanging up some more this weekend.
