How to Write a Letter

Good morning/afternoon/evening to ya!

Writing letters is even harder than sending an email these days, yet we all look forward to that hand-written note in our mailbox among the bills and ad sheets. It's become an art form, something we have to work to preserve.

As you know, cards are my thing! They can add depth to communication and show love in a way unique to other modern-day methods. I love the feeling of a bulky handwritten card in an envelope. It makes me look forward to reading the words inside.

If you're wanting to dabble in handwritten letters, it's a fun and simple hobby that can mean a lot to the people in your life.

I start with the bulky parts. If I'm taping down a photo, I'll put it down first, then write around it. Double sided tape is best.

Then, I go in with the words. If this is the part you worry about, that's not the idea. You write from your heart, from what's going on in your life and what's on your mind. It should be like a conversation you have while sitting across from them in your living room.

Once the words are down, you can decorate the paper with washi tape and doodles. This adds some meat to an otherwise blank letter and some personality to your written conversation.

I wrap it all up with some calligraphy and the address. You can go fancy or simplistic, as long as the mail person can read it!

Try it out, and let me know if you did in the comments below! Do you write letters often? Have any other tips for getting started? Start the conversation :)
